How to quickly filter notes on your iPhone thanks to tags

Did you know that since iOS 14.5 and macOS Big Sur 11.3 it's possible to add tags to your notes?

This is a great way to quickly filter and access notes that may be stored in different folders.

Anywhere in a note, just type the hashtag symbol followed by a word, for instance “#important”

After typing the space, the tags will become yellow.

If you have at least one device still running a version of iOS or macOS incompatible with tags, you'll see a popup message with the device names.

It will even tell you if the device can be upgraded or not, like my 2011 MacBook Air stuck at macOS 10.13 High Sierra:

Once you've started using tags, you'll see the list at the bottom of the Folder view of the Notes app (if you have a lot of folders, you may need to collapse the iCloud section).

Tapping on a tag will show you a filtered list of notes containing that tag.

It's even possible to filter on more than 1 tag at a time

And you, how many tags have you created in Notes on your iPhone?
