Want to organise photos on your iPhone but don’t know where to start?

Ever started making a photo book on your Apple device and been stuck along the way?

Are you overwhelmed by the number of pictures stored on your iPhone and struggling to organise them on your Apple computer?

Are you afraid that some precious moments might get lost because you’re not sure which pictures are properly backed up? 

It's not too late and you have the power to take back control of your photos.

Over the course of 6 modules, you'll understand:

  • the different methods to transfer pictures between your iPhone and your Mac

  • the differences and similarities between iPhoto and the new Photos app

  • the difference between an archive and a backup (local & online)

Through hands-on exercises, both in the classroom and at home, you’ll learn how to:

  • organise, edit and share pictures directly from your iPhone

  • transfer pictures from your iPhone to your Mac

  • efficiently organise, edit and share pictures on your Mac

  • create cards, photo books and calendars on your Mac

  • export pictures onto a USB stick or external hard drive

Prerequisite:

  • iPhone 5 or superior running iOS 9 or iOS 10

  • Apple computer running OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or 10.11 (El Capitan) or 10.12 (Sierra)

Session #2: Managing pictures on an iPhone

  • Navigating through Photos on iOS
  • Organising pictures on your iPhone
  • Editing pictures on iPhone
  • Sharing pictures on iPhone

Session #3: Transferring pictures from your iPhone to your Mac

  • The different methods to transfer pictures
  • Transferring pictures via USB
  • Transferring pictures via iCloud Photo Library
  • Transferring pictures via My Photostream
  • Transferring pictures via iCloud Photo Sharing

Session #4: Organising pictures on your computer

  • Navigating through iPhoto & Photos
  • Faces, Stars, Flags & Likes, Comments & Tags
  • Organising pictures through folders, albums and smart albums

Session #5: Making use of your pictures on your computer

  • Editing pictures
  • Sharing pictures via Mail, iCloud or social media (Twitter, Facebook,...)
  • Projects (Books, Cards and Calendars)
  • iPhoto vs. Photos

About your instructor

Damien Schreurs - 100x100.png

For the last 25 years, Damien has enjoyed sharing his practical knowledge about computers and technology in general. Over time, he has become the go-to person in his circle for advice and help.

He fell in love with Apple products a few years before the iPhone was released and currently owns an iPhone 6, an iMac, a MacBook Air, a few iPads and iPods, an Apple TV and a bunch of other gadgets.

In his professional life, he has always taken a lot of pleasure in teaching and coaching his colleagues and considers his biggest strength as being able to explain complex topics with simple words.

In 2013 and 2014, Damien already taught two classes at The Second Degree, one entitled “Unlock you iPhone/iPad Potential” and the other “Get the most out of your MacBook”.

After the last course, participant Rita Courlander said: "I loved both courses. You have a special gift of explaining to non-techie women how to manage their expensive bits of aluminium."
