How to quickly launch actions when tapping the back of your iPhone

Since iOS 14 it’s possible to launch actions when double- or triple-tapping the back of our iPhone.

Actions can be related to:

  • the system itself, like muting the phone, taking a screenshot, launching control centre or notification centre

  • accessibility features, like launching the magnifier or zooming the screen

  • automation created using the Shortcuts app (these are mine)

  • and even scroll gestures

To configure this:

  1. Open 'Settings'

  2. Tap on 'Accessibility'

  3. Tap on 'Touch' (1st option for the Physical and Motor category)

  4. Scroll down and tap on 'Back Tap'

  5. Tap on 'Double Tap' or 'Triple Tap'

  6. Choose the desired action

What a pleasure to simply tap the back of my iPhone twice to make a screenshot 🙂

And you, which Backtap actions have you configured on your iPhone?
